Coir Geotextiles

Coir geotextiles are a type of woven fabric made from coir fiber yarn that is used to control soil erosion and condition soil. They are naturally resistant to rot and mold, and they are cheaper than synthetic geotextiles. The woven fabric has square mesh gaps positioned at 1/4″, 1/2″, and 1″ and is available in different weights of 400 gm/m2, 700 gm/m2, and 900 gm/m2. The coir geotextiles hold soil in place, prevent erosion, and dissipate the force of heavy rains and run-off water. They also promote the growth of new vegetation by absorbing water and preventing topsoil from drying out. Coir geotextiles are strong and durable, protecting slopes and helping natural vegetation to take root. Over time, the eco-friendly and biodegradable coir disintegrates completely, leaving only humus.

The common varieties of coir geotextiles:

  • 400 gm/m2
  • 700 gm/m2
  • 900 gm/m2.

Two variants of Geo-Textiles fabrics:
1.Woven Fabric Geotextiles.
2.Non-Woven Geotextiles.

The available size of rolls for coir geotextiles is 2 meters in width and length ranging from 10 meters to 50 meters. They are used in various applications such as

  • Landscaping
  • Erosion control
  • Slope stabilization
  • Soil bioengineering.
